Literature and History: Australian Perspectives.

On the 27th October 2020, CHRG members took part in a webinar hosted by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU): The people’s university. Titled ‘Literature and History: Australian Perspectives’, Professor David Lowe, Dr. Alyson Miller, Dr. Tiffany Shellam and Dr. Alexandra Roginski each gave a presentation that sought to broaden understandings of Australian history and literature. David Lowe spoke about biographical writing, Alyson Miller discussed the potential of literature to speak to historical events in a way that can reveal the unspoken, Tiffany Shellam reflected on Indigenous Australian writing across genres and eras and Alexandra Roginski shared her research that explores phrenology and Australian nationhood in the 1800s.
