Word for Word Non-Fiction Festival – November 2017

The Word for Word Non-Fiction Festival will take place 17-19 November at Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.

Associate Professor Maria Takolander will be interviewing the Australian literary legend Peter Carey, one of only four writers in the world to win the Booker Prize twice, at the opening night event of Geelong’s 2017 Word for Word non-fiction festival. Maria will also be interviewing another Australian legendary writer, Frank Moorhouse, along with his biographer Catherine Lumby.

Professor David McCooey will also be facilitating two sessions: a panel of poets including the multi-award-winning Australian poet Judith Beveridge; and an interview with Classic FM’s Christopher Lawrence.

There are also a number of history events throughout the program.

Deakin University is a major sponsor of the Word for Word non-fiction festival, in partnership with Geelong Regional Libraries Corporation and the City of Greater Geelong, and Associate Professor Takolander represents Deakin University on the festival committee.

The full program is now available, and tickets can be booked now.
