Professor David Lowe was recently interviewed by the Australian Historical Association: Early Career Researcher’s Q & A series, providing advice for early career researchers, and his own research background interests.
“Can you distill your philosophy about why history is important into a sentence or two?
In essence, I think history fosters the kind of curiosity that we need in order to remain healthy – as liberal and humane societies, and as people able to contextualise the challenges that they face and have faced.” – Professor David Lowe, AHA ECR Blog
Professor Lowe is Chair in Contemporary History in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. David is a co-founder of the Australian Policy and History network and a member of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Editorial Advisory Board, advising the Australian Foreign Minister with respect to the Documents on Australian Foreign Policy Series.
