‘Australia Goes to Washington’ Launched at ANU by Professor Gareth Evans AC

On 24 July 2017, Australian National University Chancellor Gareth Evans AC launched the edited collection Australia Goes to Washington: 75 Years of Australian Representation in the United States, 1940-2015, which was released earlier this year by ANU Press. This collection was edited by Professor David Lowe, Dr David Lee, and Professor Carl Bridge, and includes chapters from Contemporary Histories Research Group members Associate Professor Christopher Waters and Professor Peter Edwards. The book also includes chapters from Associate Professor Frank Bongiorno, Dr Matthew Jordan, Mr Jeremy Hearder, Professor James Cotton and reflections from Kim Beazley, AC, Ambassador from 2010-2016.

“This book is a great contribution to our diplomatic and broader international relations literature. Well-conceived, well-organized, well-written by all its contributors, and well-edited by David Lowe, David Lee and Carl Bridge, this book is a credit to its editors, authors and ANU Press publishers. I congratulate them all, and declare Australia Goes to Washington duly launched.” – ANU Chancellor Gareth Evans AC, 24 July 2017
