Roy Hay‘s new article on the establishment of the football codes in Australia in the mid-19th century has recently been published in the journal Soccer & Society. The abstract for the article, ‘The Codes Diverge: The Establishment of Victorian Football, Rugby and Soccer in Australia, 1860-1900’, is available online.
Roy Hay is an Honorary Fellow at Deakin University, where he taught for 25 years, and a partner in Sports and Editorial Services Australia. His first book, The Origins of the Liberal Welfare Reforms, 1906–1914 is still in print 41 years after publication.
