Maria TakolanderCHRGImageCome along to Geelong’s 2016 Word for Word Non-fiction Festival – Australia’s largest non-fiction writing festival — which will be held at “The Dome” or the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre over the weekend of November 18-20.

Deakin’s School of Communication and Creative Arts is a major sponsor, and Associate Professor Maria Takolander of Contemporary Histories is on the organising committee.

The line-up of keynote speakers, panel discussions and in-conversations feature some of Australia’s most prominent historians and public intellectuals.

There is Robert Manne talking about “The Mind of the Islamic State.” Stan Grant will deliver a keynote about “Indigenous Futures.” Peter FitzSimons will discuss his latest book, Victory at Villers-Bretonneaux. David Hunt and Ben Pobjie will entertain with a session called “Beyond Convicts and Sheep: Finding the Humour in our History.” Anthony Albanese will discuss his new memoir. And there is much more in store!
