Postgraduate Member Emma Hayes: Article Published in The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children’s Literature

Contemporary Histories_Emma HayesEmma Hayes is a current postgraduate student and member of the Contemporary Histories Research Group. Her thesis examines representations of place in children’s texts published between 1863 and 1914. In particular, Emma’s research focuses on the way in which the phenomenology of place relates to the sociology of place in the texts, and seeks to examine representations of liminality.

Emma has recently had an article published in the online peer-reviewed journal The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children’s Literature. You can read Emma’s article, The Secret Garden and the Gaze” now.
