Welcome to Our New Member Dr Jemma Purdey

PURDEY, J profile picDr Jemma Purdey is an Indonesian studies scholar, with a particular interest in political biography and ethnic minorities. She is Research Fellow in the Faculty of Arts and the Australia Indonesia Centre at Monash University. Her PhD thesis on the final years of the New Order was published in 2006 as Anti-Chinese Violence in Indonesia, 1996-1999. ASAA SEA Publication Series, NUS, Singapore. She undertook a fellowship at the International Institute for Asian Studies at Leiden University before taking up a post-doctoral position at the Centre of Southeast Asian Studies at Monash University to write a biography of Australia’s first Indonesianist, Herb Feith.
