Dr Tiffany Shellam’s New Book Published – Rosendo Salvado and the Australian Aboriginal World

TShellamSalvadoBookImageIn April 2014 Dr Tiffany Shellam was invite to present at a symposia in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, celebrating the birth of Rosendo Salvado, the founder of the New Norcia Aboriginal mission in Western Australia. Salvado was born in Tui, Spain, and undertook monastic training in Santiago de Compostela. He is a historical figure of much interest in Galicia. This symposia included papers in English and Spanish, presented by historians, archivists and Aboriginal people from Yued country who had a connection to New Norcia.

This book, edited by Ramon Maiz and Tiffany Shellam: ‘Rosendo Salvado e o mundo aborixe de Australia / Rosendo Salvado and the Australian Aboriginal world’ was recently published by The Consello de Cultura de Gallega, Spain. It is an outcome of that symposium, and springs from the growing connections between Deakin University, Curtin University, the New Norcia Community and the University of Santiago de Compostela.
